Gift-wrapping tips for the gift-wrapping challenged…

How many of you are spending the weekend wrapping gifts and watching Tivoed Christmas specials? Ok, maybe that’s just me. But I’ve already received a bottle of champagne today and it looks like I’m spending tonight indoors…wrapping presents, I mean!

Anyhow, the more exciting your gift is, the less likely it is to be an easy wrap. That’s why we came up with some great solutions for your holiday wrapping woes.

For awkwardly shaped gifts, check out this video courtesy of Video Jug:

And here are some other great tips:

#1 Invisible tape is not really invisible…so use double-stick tape between wrapping paper instead.

#2 When wrapping round gifts like basketballs, coffee cakes, etc., use Mylar paper. It’s flexible and much easier to work with than wrapping paper, and comes in nice shiny holiday colors!

#3 Chinese food take-out containers are ideal for gift-gifting – ask for some extras next time you order out!

#4 Never wrap large gifts like cars, bikes, computers, etc. Just add a ribbon and voila – you’ve already given them a pretty package!

For an elegant look:
Use a shiny gold or metallic paper to wrap your gift, then for the trim buy some fake plastic pearls and hot glue the ends to the box to keep the pearls in place.

Being Resourceful:
Use a popcorn, cookie, nut, or any other large tin, cover with plain paper, and glue the overlapping edges in place. The height of the paper should be the same height of the tin. Glue on red ribbon or paint pieces creating a zigzag design around the tin. Top it off with drumsticks, chopsticks, or any other fun trinket.

Gift-wrap with fragrance:
Wrap a gift in dark green paper then tie with a red ribbon. To complete the gift add a piece of fresh mistletoe (for a romantic feel), pine, or holly tucked right under the ribbon. The aroma is perfect for the season and will jazz up any boring gift-wrap.

Adding a personal touch:
Wrap present in plain paper (crate paper works the best) and stick on digitally printed pictures of friends, family or just a picture you think that they will like. Wanna add a touch of vanity? Attach a picture with yourself and your gift recipient so that they will remember the thoughtful gift is from you!

My fav wrapping pick:

Paper bags and popsicle sticks! A perfect idea from ReadyMade Magazine!
