A New Foundation -
It’s almost winter time and you better still not be wearing that same foundation you’ve had in the summer. No matter your skin tone, your complexion will be somewhat paler and wearing too dark of a shade just looks bad. You needn’t spend a fortune on new foundations, but make sure you find one that matches AND moisturizes.

Finding the right Blush –
In the winter you don’t necessarily need blush! With the winter cold your cheeks are sure to have a natural rosy glow. But if you insist on blush, be sure to choose a light paler pink shade with a little shimmer, nothing too dark or too peachy. Go for a sheer powdered blush and sweep on the apples of your cheek only.
Eyes –
Go for the gusto. Winter is the time to go dark, bold or metallic with your eyes. Pair a smokey eye (see our “How to Create a Smokey Eye blog) or a matte neutral shadow with dark eyeliner and dark black mascara to finish it off. When applying the shadow, go darker along your eyelashes and the socket of the eye for a bolder look.
Great winter shades: Gold, Silver, Metallics, Dark Purples, greens, greys, burgundy and browns. Try this eye shadow by Ulta:
Lips –
Find a creamy lipstick in a nice holiday berry shade. The creamy lipstick has a moisturizing base that will keep them from drying out in the cold dead of winter. Avoid at all costs lip gloss because with the winter wind it can blow in your lips and hair, getting everything you touch sticky! In the winter chapped lips and redness is easier to spot, so make sure you apply Chapstick or Vaseline to your lips copiously (every ½ hour) so that you’ll lips will look smooth and flawless no matter where you go!
