Today is LEGO’s 50th Anniversary! In this high-tech hoopla of fancy computer games and video game virtual reality, it’s a wonder that something so simple has maintained its reputation as an imaginative building block for children everywhere. I for one love LEGO and have fond memories of creating a fake reality with them. And it looks like they’ve broadened their repertoire since I was a kid with even better brand new LEGO items.
Here’s what’s new from LEGO:

Market Street $89
Designed by a LEGO fan, it features cool details like spiral staircases, awnings, removable balconies and a terrace roof.

LEGO Pink Brick Box $14.99
Marketed towards girls, this brand new pink block set also include fences, flowers, and doors.

Bionicle Mutran and Vican $14.99
These evil villains come complete with claws, blades, spears and wings!

LEGO Castle Chess Set $39.99
My personal favorite! 24 adorable minifigures!
LEGO also has a great list of ways to throw a LEGO birthday party, such as including a LEGO brick in each invitation, creating a Guess How Many? LEGO door prize, a Sky High LEGO challenge and more.
And check out this White Stripes video for “Fell in Love With a Girl”– made entirely with LEGOs!
