IKEA Says Bye-Bye to Plastic Bags!

Ikea announced today that it’s planning to jump on the green anti-plastic bandwagon by eliminating paper and plastic bags from their stores in October 2008. Customers will either have to bring their own bags, or purchase the large Ikea bag.  Nordstrom and Wal-Mart have also changed their shopping bag offerings by offering recycled shopping bags.

So I started thinking to myself, what types of trendy and cute green shopping and green grocery totes are out there? And would I be embarrassed sporting them? The answer: not if it’s one of these…

Nice post – great bag styles!

I just bought 2 sets of Envirosax a few months back (flora & retro), and just LOVE them, use them daily, and I’m planning to give some to friends for b-days this year now. Really useful & functional, plus they’re very stylish! Got mine with free shipping & on sale, so it was an incredible deal. Here is one of the styles I got:

I’d definitely recommend any of the Envirosax, as they’re great for the price. Like the Reisenthal style you show, too!

For around 56 cents you can get a GIANT re-usable blue ikea shopping bag that will let you carry more than 100lbs and holds 100s of items! I use it all the time
