New Ultra-Modern Veggie Peelers

New Ultra-Modern Veggie Peelers

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make me happy. In the kitchen, I usually get a big smile from my drawer full of kitchen gadgets. I’m not married to any particular brand. In fact, my collection of graters, spatulas, garlic presses and lemon juicers rivals the number of shoes I have in my closet. Variety is the spice of life, particularly when I’m cooking.

This week, I’m jazzed about a new collection of modern peelers from famed product designer Karim Rashid. He’s known for his  “democratic” sense of design: styles that appeal to the masses at prices most people can afford. The new Y-Peeler by Slice, shaped like a ladies’ razor, has a high-tech ceramic blade that will stay sharp longer than traditional metal blades. It’s also light weight, which is easier on your hands and wrists when you’re cooking for a crowd.  The coordinating Veggie Peeler works as well on delicate tomato skins as it does on tougher potato and carrot peels.

The Slice peelers usually retail for $14.99 each, but SHOP.COM stores have them for just $11.99! The cheery apple green color will encourage me to keep these peelers out of the messy gadget drawer and on the counter for everyone to see.
