Zebra Print Snuggie Blanket

Zebra Print Snuggie Blanket

I went to two holiday parties over the weekend where we had to bring a gift for a white elephant gift exchange. For these I usually like to visit my local thrift stores and find unique and artsy finds to donate so that I’m not responsible for just disseminating more junk out into the world. So I ended up finding an antique silver Santa candy dish for one party and a few oddball art books for the other.

Never would I imagine that only one item could truly capture the hearts and minds of these white elephant gift exchangers — enough to inspire a couple’s infighting, incessant re-stealing, and beaming smiles upon the stealing of this gift — the Snuggie!

Yes, that ubiquitous Snuggie blanket that I thought was just an early 2009 fad has resurfaced rampantly this holiday season at holiday parties and — dare I say it — as Christmas gift ideas. This full-body-throw-with-armholes has blanketed the world by storm!

In one holiday party I saw BOTH a zebra snuggie and a leopard print Snuggie. I was terrified that one would somehow prey upon the other! Anyhow, I looked into it and it turns out that not only are there animal-print Snuggies but you can buy college-themed Snuggies, breast cancer awareness Snuggies, even luxury microplush Snuggies! But the real kicker– Snuggies for dogs!

Believe it or not, these Snuggies are selling out quickly at stores like Target, Toys R Us, Walgreens, and more. If you can’t find one there, you may be able to score one on eBay or Amazon for about 3 times the regular cost, but hey, it’s the it-blanket of the year, so why not? For those of you that refuse to cave into the Snuggie trend, there’s always the nearly identical Slanket. What’s the difference? Who knows? They’ll both make you the most popular guest at your next white elephant gift exchange, that’s for sure!

And if you’re looking for something completely different, a bit pricier, but a lot more plush and cozy, check out my earlier post on the Nuddle Blanket!
