Susan Boyle, the 48-year old Britain’s Got Talent overnight sensation, released her debut album I Dreamed a Dream last week, and it is already number one on the charts. If you’re not familiar with Susan Boyle, she’s the Scottish-born singer that sang her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables — stunning the world with the contrast between her powerful voice and her, according to some, less than powerful appearance.

And she may get the last laugh after all — critics are lauding her new album, raving that her versions of songs like the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” and “Amazing Grace” are gorgeous, melancholic tunes. They’ve got to be right about something — after all, her album has already gone platinum in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes platinum here too!
