It’s always confusing to shop in mid-July: It’s 90 degrees out, yet summer clothes have started to hit the sale racks to make room for fall sweaters. It’s a great time to scoop up deals on warm-weather wear, but I start to become aware that perhaps the utility of a new swimsuit or pair of shorts is limited.

Summer scarves, though, are a great buy. Wear them now as a scarf or a wrap on a cool night, then pair it with a light jacket when the weather turns. Great deals are available on linen / cotton blends, like the Land’s End Scarf, available in 10 colors and pictured below, or on silk blends (I like the silk/cotton crinkle scarves from Orvis, above). Wear two together for an extra burst of color!
